Hydration bladder compatibility: what it actually means
Not every pack marketed as “hydration compatible” actually routes a hose properly — some just have enough internal space for a reservoir and nothing else. This pack does the job properly: a dedicated internal compartment holds the bladder, and elastic loops on the shoulder straps keep the hose in place at chest height so it doesn’t flap or catch on branches during a hike. That’s the difference between drinking on the move and having to stop, take the pack off, and dig for a water bottle every time you’re thirsty — worth having on anything longer than a short local walk. The reinforced bottom compartment is worth using deliberately too: it’s rated for gear that’s heavier or dirtier than what goes in the main body, so boots, a wet tent or trowel and shovel kit don’t contaminate clothing or electronics stored elsewhere in the pack.
